Material

What type of plastic do we use?

We manufacture our furniture and flooring using thermoplastic materials. This means we can shape the plastic by applying heat. Once it cools down, it hardens and regains its original properties. This process allows us to extend the material’s lifespan by recycling it into new products.

Which thermoplastics do we use in our products?

Thermoplastics cover a wide range of materials. At Decoplastic, we mainly work with:

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
PVC is a widely used and well-known material. It offers excellent resistance to wear and withstands temperatures from -40ºC to +80ºC. One of its key advantages is its self-extinguishing property, meaning it stops burning as soon as you remove the flame.
At Decoplastic, we use PVC to manufacture a wide range of furniture and storage solutions such as shelving units, benches, coat racks, carts, and lockers. Its versatility, smooth surface, and resistance to acids, grease, and moisture make it an ideal choice. These properties also allow for quick cleaning and easy decontamination.
Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)
LLDPE offers high flexibility and strong impact resistance thanks to its excellent shock-absorbing capacity. It also provides good chemical resistance.
For these reasons, we use this material to manufacture platforms. It performs well in temperatures ranging from -60ºC to +70ºC and resists acids, grease, and moisture.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

How long does plastic last?

Like any material, PVC and the other plastics we use at Decoplastic require proper maintenance to ensure the longest possible lifespan. The good news is that keeping our shelving units, lockers, benches, and other products in excellent condition requires only simple and easy routines.

Before we explain how to clean these surfaces, keep in mind that this material does not last forever. With proper use and by respecting the intended function of each product, it can last up to 25 years in perfect condition.

After this period, if you notice a loss of structural strength, you can recycle the material and give it a new life. By melting it and blending it with a variable percentage of virgin material—depending on its hardness—we can produce new parts.

How do you clean plastic furniture and flooring?

We recommend using water and neutral soap. For grease stains, you can use a degreasing detergent. You can also apply standard disinfectants used to keep facilities clean and bacteria-free, including products used against COVID-19.

Apply cleaning products with soft cloths. PVC is very easy to clean and does not require intensive effort to maintain.

Although it offers good resistance, we always recommend testing any new or uncertain product on a small area first to check how it reacts with the PVC surface.

RECYCLING

How do we recycle PVC?

At Decoplastic, we aim to minimize the environmental impact associated with PVC use. That is why we recycle 100% of the leftover material from our production process.

We use a mechanical recycling system. All the PVC we recycle comes directly from our manufacturing process. This includes unused material such as surplus, remnants, or defective parts from the factory.

We carefully select and sort the waste, then process it in a mill that turns the material into flakes. After this step, we melt the material again to shape new products.

The main advantage of this process is that we can repeat it several times by adding a variable percentage of virgin material, without compromising the essential properties of PVC. This approach allows us to extend the material’s lifespan.
